Jakarta, 20 November 2024 – On the occasion of Electricity Connect 2024, VMCS was trusted as a PR and Communication consultant in Wärtsilä’s journey towards net zero emissions. Wärtsilä Indonesia as a global leader in innovative technologies and life cycle solutions for the marine and energy markets, held a media briefing to share insights on how we can accelerate the adoption of renewable energy and innovative solutions to create a more sustainable power system.

In an effort to achieve the net zero emission target, Wärtsilä emphasized that the ASEAN region faces major challenges and has set an ambitious target to achieve net zero emissions. In this effort, the energy sector is the main backbone to reduce carbon emissions and drive the transition to net zero emissions.

In this media briefing, Wärtsilä proposes five key steps to achieve net zero emissions in the power sector. The first step is to accelerate the adoption of renewables such as solar and wind, which are increasingly economically competitive. Next, flexible power generation and energy storage systems are needed to maintain grid stability in the face of the intermittent nature of renewables
Wärtsilä also highlights the role of natural gas as a transition fuel, as well as sustainable fuels such as hydrogen and biofuels to support flexible power generation in the future. With this combination, the energy sector can be better prepared for a low-carbon future. The final step is to build a power system based on 100% renewables supported by energy storage and sustainable fuels. This strategy provides a clear picture for accelerating the energy transition.

VMCS supports Wärtsilä’s journey towards net zero emissions by helping to communicate the company’s strategic vision clearly and effectively. Through a media briefing at Electricity Connect 2024, VMCS played a role in communicating Wärtsilä’s vision to the media and stakeholders to strengthen its position as a leader in sustainable energy technologies. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to supporting the creation of cleaner, greener energy solutions.
